It all started one day when he was about four. We were making mouth calls out in the shop when he started out the door to go to the house, he reach over picked up one of the calls, stuck it in his mouth, and went to blowing it.
He had been hunting with me, to so many turkey contest and seminars listening to us teaching people untill he knew the sounds to make. So we were off and away. P.W. won his first trophy at the age of five at a calling contest in Colombus, MS. Ben Rogers Lee was a judge at this event. He started his turkey calling professionally I guess we could say at the age of seven. He won 1st place in the Pee Wee Division at the Mississippi Acricultural & Forestry Museum Turkey Calling and Owl Hooting Contest in 1985.
After that we were on the road for the next ten years at tukey calling contest and archery contest all over MS, LA, and AL. This went on for the next ten years until he retired at the age of 16 after his fourth MS Open Champion Title. I have an old resume we keep for that time period. It contains the main contest he won, but there were many, many, smaller ones along the way. P.W. has probably fifty or more trophies hanging on the walls of my shop.
